Founded: 2002. Inaugural classes begin on September 3, 2007.
Location: Squamish, British Columbia, Canada - about an hour from Vancouver to the south, and an hour from Whistler to the north.
Campus: $100 million campus on 60 acres completed 2007. Brand-new "green" buildings geothermally heated and cooled; state of the art and wireless.
Type of university: An innovative, private, secular, not-for-profit, undergraduate university focused solely on liberal arts and sciences.
Degree: We offer one degree: "Bachelor of Arts and Sciences." Quest is entirely focused on undergraduate education.
Calendar: Three terms per year (fall, spring and summer) of four 3 1/2 week "blocks".
Block Plan: The block plan means taking only one course at a time.
Curriculum: Our curriculum is designed with two distinct parts, the foundation program (the first 16 blocks) and the concentration program (the remaining 16 blocks). A total of 32 blocks are required for the Bachelor's degree.
Class size: No more than 20 students per class. All seminar-style classes.
Enrollment: 142 students today, increasing annually to a full capacity of 800.
Admission: Our evaluation process considers academic achievement, written work, letters of recommendation, evidence of leadership, and extracurricular and volunteer activities. We also recognize AP and IB accomplishments. Individual portfolios are welcome. Apply online at applynow.questu.ca or call the Office of Admission and Enrollment Services at 1.888.QUEST.08.
Residence: Students are expected to live on campus (unless they live in Squamish with a relative) for the first two years. They are strongly encouraged to remain in residence for their final two years.
Cost: Before scholarships and financial aid, annual tuition and fees for two terms or eight blocks totals $25,000. Housing and meal plan cost is $8,000 for two terms or eight blocks.
Financial Aid: Generous financial assistance is available in the form of scholarships, bursaries, grants, loans and student employment, for which almost $2 million is budgeted. Quest is committed to the principle that cost should not deter qualified prospective students from applying.
Academic International Partnerships: Quest University Canada has established partnerships with 18 leading universities throughout the world. We are developing student exchange programs with them.
Leadership: David Strangway, Founding Chancellor; David J. Helfand, President; James Cohn, Chief Academic Officer.
Accreditation: Fully approved under the British Columbia Ministry of Advanced Education, following a rigorous review of its organization and programs by the Degree Quality Assessment Board (DQAB).
